EAEP appoints new Public Affairs Manager

Brussels, 1 February 2022 – The leading association of European online pharmacies has appointed a new Public Affairs Manager.

Martino Canonico is the first Public Affairs Manager to assume this post. In his role, based in Brussels, Martino will be dealing with European legislation and policymaking relevant to the online pharmacies sector, to strengthen and accelerate the healthcare sector’s digital transformation. Martino as Public Affairs Manager will steer the advocacy and public affairs activities of EAEP, focusing on digitalisation in healthcare, e-commerce, data and sustainability. He will also closely work with the Board to coordinate internal and external activities aimed at promoting the EAEP and its network across Europe.

Before joining the EAEP, Martino worked both in the European Institutions and in different Brussels-based Public Affairs consultancies, dealing with technology and healthcare policies.

Stefan Feltens, EAEP President says: “As new Manager of the association representing leading e-pharmacies in Europe, Martino will work with our members to showcase how online pharmacies contribute to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare for Europeans. As Europe is facing unprecedented challenges stemming from the health crisis, we will promote new policies to boost digitalisation in healthcare in the interest of consumers and patients across Europe”.

Profile: The European Association of E-Pharmacies (EAEP) represents the interests of e-pharmacies on the European continent. More than 20 million customers and patients across Europe are currently being supplied by our members and on top of that, our online pharmacies and their more than 4,000 employees are currently active in eleven European markets. Founded in 2001 as the EAMSP (European Association of Mail Service Pharmacies) and with its name change in February 2021, the EAEP voices its interests mainly with political stakeholders, regional and business actors, with the ultimate aim to improve the health of Europe’s citizens and strengthen the European healthcare system. E-Pharmacies have digitalised the classical pharmacy, and therefore act at the crossroads of digitalisation, healthcare, e-commerce and sustainability. As pioneers in providing digital solutions and our innovative and secure processes in dealing with health data, offering medicinal products and digital healthcare service while complying with national and EU law, the EAEP members continuously seek for ways to enhance the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare for Europeans.
