ONHOME ALLIANCE LAUNCH EVENT – The patients' voice needs to be heard above everything else
Patients across all 27 EU Member States deserve the right to have their prescription medicines delivered directly to their home. This is especially important for critically ill and disabled patients and carers. * * However, only 8 out of 27 Member States have allowed this choice for decades. With a proven track record of safety (all dispensing comes from registered pharmacies, under the Falsified Medicine Directive with its safety features of a uniquely identifiable pack with tamper evident seal) it is important patients are treated equally across all Member States. The ongoing revision of the General Pharmaceutical Legislation (GPL) provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity to address this patient inequality and to empower Member States to offer online dispensing service and home delivery for patients.
To unlock the full benefits to patients of enabling safe online access to prescription medicine, the newly established OnHOME Alliance – a partnership between patient organisations and healthcare associations – is organising a launch event to foster a multistakeholder dialogue on this critical issue. The event aims to gather decision-makers and experts in the field of digital and public health, to build momentum and support for the OnHOME Alliance’s initiatives in driving effective availability, accessibility, and affordability of medicines through digitalisation of healthcare services.
