EAEP welcomes its two newest members Farmasiet and Pharma GDD

Brussels, 1 July 2022 – the European Association of E-Pharmacies (EAEP), which represents leading online pharmacies on the European continent, welcomes Farmasiet and Pharma GDD as new members of the EAEP family. As leading e-pharmacies respectively in Norway and France, Farmasiet and Pharma GDD will contribute to the EAEP’s activities aimed at creating a fair single market for digital health services.

With the addition of Farmasiet and Pharma GDD, the EAEP has further expanded both its membership base and markets in which members are operating, strengthening the voice of the e-pharmacy sector in Europe. Both operators are fully aligned with the goal of the EAEP to advocate for a level playing field for online pharmacies, at the EU and Member State levels.

Farmasiet is Norway’s largest online pharmacy. It delivers thousands of products, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines and merchandise, to the whole country. Since March 2020, Farmasiet provides customers in the greater Oslo area with same-day delivery, free of charge for prescription drugs. Elisabeth Haug, CEO of Farmasiet, says “In light of our experience in dealing with the online sale of prescription drugs and last mile delivery, we will work within the EAEP to establish a dialogue with EU policy-makers and stakeholders on how to further accelerate citizens’ access to digital health and the overall digitalisation of healthcare in Europe”.

Pharma GDD is the first online pharmacy to be established in France, in 2012. The French online pharmacy is linked to a physical store founded in 1964 in Caen. Pharma GDD offers more than 25,000 products, both para-pharmacy and non-prescription drugs, and provides patients with qualified, personalised advice online. Philippe Lailler, registered owner of Pharma GDD, says “As the first online pharmacy in France, for years we have been operating in a very restrictive legal and regulatory environment, substantially limiting the online sale of medicines in France. We welcome the work carried out by the EAEP so far, and we look forward to contributing to the creation of a sound European framework for online pharmacies to better support patients in Europe”.
