EAEP JOINS EU HEALTH COALITION TO ADVANCE DISCUSSIONS ON DIGITAL HEALTH

Brussels, 15 July 2022 – the European Association of E-Pharmacies (EAEP) has joined the EU Health Coalition, a multi-stakeholder initiative looking at mapping the future of healthcare in Europe, with the goal of boosting the discussions on digital health at the EU level.

The EAEP, as the European association representing the voice of the e-pharmacy sector in the EU and EEA, supports the 20 recommendations to promote a shared vision of health in Europe, put forward by the Coalition in the past. These recommendations, which specifically look at how the EU could lead in areas such as healthcare systems, policies for health, research and innovation, and health data and digital health, include, among others, (i) support the measurement and collection of standardised health data, (ii) accelerate the creation of a European health data space, (iii) ensure e-health interoperability across the continuum of care. By joining the Coalition, the EAEP will contribute to the activities of the working groups, with a focus on digital health, in order to ensure that the sector’s views and challenges are reflected in the ongoing debate on healthcare policy at the EU level.

The EAEP focuses on tackling the need for European healthcare systems to adapt to changing patients’ needs and markets: digital solutions should be further promoted and placed high on the policymakers’ agenda, with the ultimate goal of making healthcare systems more resilient and patient-oriented.

Stefan Feltens, President EAEP, says: “As the body representing the e-pharmacy sector, which already forms a vital part of European healthcare systems, the EAEP is very much keen to join the EU Health Coalition. Our priority will be to improve the quality of discussions with other partners on how to guarantee not only the safe and reliable supply of medicines, but also better health and well-being for Europeans, through digital solutions. We are all called to do our part to respond to nowadays health challenges: the EAEP is committed to bringing to the table the vast experience our members have garnered over the years on digital health and patient safety”.
